Kitchens are the hardest room to build with CC, because so much of it has to work. Sims need a fridge, a counter to prepare food on and a stove or oven to cook. Functional appliances are usually built on EA objects, so check the packs line before you download.
Counters and cabinets often come as a set of several downloads: base counters, corners, upper cabinets and an island. Grab the whole set so the pieces match.
Kitchen clutter such as plates, jars and fruit bowls is decorative. Place it with bb.moveobjects, but leave clear counter space, or Sims will have nowhere to prepare food.
For open-plan homes, choose dining room furniture from the same creator. Add more clutter from decor and a statement light from lighting.
